In October 2003, these award winners formed the Burleson Society with
the primary goal of reaching further into the community to help
Johnson County residents and cancer patients, their families and their
caregivers. After five fundraising events, the ATHENA Society has
presented over $135,000.00 to organizations that provide support for
Johnson County residents battling cancer.
ATHENA presented the proceeds from the first year's fundraiser to
Cancer Care Services for Johnson County residents. The last 4
years, we have supported cancer programs through Careity Foundation.
The ATHENA
Mardi Gras is held every February to bring all citizens of Johnson
County together to raise funds for the special needs of our
neighbors. The money raised during this event will benefit Johnson
County residents and cancer patients and their families. It is an opportunity to
help a Johnson County neighbor.

Neighbors through theCareity Foundation, Cook Children's Palliative
Care, Educational Scholarships and New Journeys Christian Women's Job
Corps.
With the help of the
Burleson Athenas and the funds raised each year through the Annual
Mardi Gras Gala, the Careity Foundation is able to provide cancer
services to Johnson County residents in need.
