Cindy Aaron

Cindy Aaron, Burleson Police Commander graduated from Burleson High School, then from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University). She was hired as a police officer for the Burleson Police Department in July 1977 and has ascended to the rank of commander, a feat she achieved in October 2006. Commander Aaron is the first woman from the Burleson Police Department to complete 10 weeks of intense training at the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) National Academy in Virginia. The training includes academics and physical fitness. The commander graduated from the 233rd session in 2008.

Throughout her years with the Burleson Police Department, Aaron has helped build and promote community programs. Her command includes internal affairs investigations, training, accreditation, DARE, crime prevention, the school resource officer program, community services, victims’ assistance, Crime Stoppers and special events. She is a member of the Burleson Area Chamber of Commerce, Texas Association of Chiefs of Police, Texas Women in Law Enforcement, International Association of Chiefs of Police, TALON Accreditation Coalition, and FBI National Academy Associates. The commander also serves as an assessor for CALEA (Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies).

The nomination for her Athena award is credited to Aaron with acting as a counselor, teacher and mentor to females of all age. She spends time on the Burleson Independent School District campuses mentoring young students and encouraging them to continue their education. She has also volunteered with reading to children on the elementary school level. Commander Aaron assists with community events sponsored by the City, chamber, school district and her church.
