Cindy Aaron,
Burleson Police Commander graduated from Burleson High School,
then from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State
University). She was hired as a police officer for the Burleson
Police Department in July 1977 and has ascended to the rank of
commander, a feat she achieved in October 2006. Commander Aaron
is the first woman from the Burleson Police Department to
complete 10 weeks of intense training at the Federal Bureau of
Investigations (FBI) National Academy in Virginia. The training
includes academics and physical fitness. The commander graduated
from the 233rd session in
2008.
Throughout
her years with the Burleson Police Department, Aaron has helped
build and promote community programs. Her command includes
internal affairs investigations, training, accreditation, DARE,
crime prevention, the school resource officer program, community
services, victims’ assistance, Crime Stoppers and special
events. She is a member of the Burleson Area Chamber of
Commerce, Texas Association of Chiefs of Police, Texas Women in
Law Enforcement, International Association of Chiefs of Police,
TALON Accreditation Coalition, and FBI National Academy
Associates. The commander also serves as an assessor for CALEA
(Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies).
The nomination for her Athena award is
credited to Aaron with acting as a counselor, teacher and mentor
to females of all age. She spends time on the Burleson
Independent School District campuses mentoring young students
and encouraging them to continue their education. She has also
volunteered with reading to children on the elementary school
level. Commander Aaron assists with community events sponsored
by the City, chamber, school district and her church.
